Etsu Izakaya 🏮 is easily the best Izakaya this side of Tokyo. The moment you walk through the iconic timber door, you are instantly transported more than 7,000km to Tokyo, Kyoto or Osaka. Like the service, the food is sensational and simply exquisite. Caitlin, our waitress, was amazing. Her service was impeccable also along with her knowledge of the dishes. She certainly made our evening memorable. Thank you Caitlin and staff.

My experience was immaculately amazing, a date night that wasn’t expected, i don’t think some of the photos and reviews can do the justice for this place We had a bit of everything other than from the grill, started with edamame and slow cooked Wagyu and slight touch of truffle, then moved on with sashimi of 3 types fish and prawn sushis, ended our main meal with truffle wagyu gyoza and two skewers of pork belly. After all that I couldn’t go home without their Tira-miso A great experience that i’d count down days to come back to GC and try this place again

10 out of 10. The food was delicious, it came out quickly, tasted amazing and offered so many flavours. A special shout our to Sam our waitress, she was attentive, lovely and was a joy to have at our table. They catered for my onion allergy and made my birthday special. Thank you 😊 🙏 💓

We were recommended by a friend to try this place, we visit the Gold Coast every Christmas from Sydney and I can say Etsu truly delivered, the atmosphere was such a vibe by far the best experience we have tried, my husband and I got the $115 set menu with the wine pairing, served by Loki he was amaaazing explained every wine Shiraz and sake, I highly recommend you get the wine pairing you will not go out walking straight so much alcohol is experienced, the Wagu 9+ one of the best I have had not chewy at all it just melted away this place truly deserves a 10 star rating every dish was like food porn ❤️

Small, cosy, intimate restaurant - from the front you wouldn’t know it was there! Four at our table, & we enjoyed sharing all dishes, each of which were fantastic. Excellent food & excellent service

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Etsu Izakaya is an absolute standout! From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is warm, stylish, and truly special. The staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and always make you feel taken care of. Every dish that came out was packed with flavour, fresh, beautifully presented, and perfectly balanced. The cocktails are next level, and the sake selection is incredible. You can really taste the quality in everything they do. Etsu is one of those places you keep coming back to. Highly recommended for anyone who loves amazing Japanese food, great service, and a memorable dining experience!

A very popular place for sure. It is very hard to book in a good time slot. Our dinner started at 4.30pm - that's the only one left :) We had very good sake there. The tempura was great! And suprisingly, the grill steak on the omakase menu was just perfectly done. While I was taking a seat at the bar, it was a pleasure to watch how the cocktails were made. A great experience!
